HIV Project

Brighton and Hove CAB offer a specialist service to individuals who are HIV positive and their partners, families and carers both in and out of work. We can provide support with applications, reviews and appeals for welfare benefits, provide money advice such as re-scheduling credit debts and advocacy around health, housing and other issues . Internal referrals to money and benefits specialist's are made where appropriate

Access:

Appointments only. Tues, Wed, Thurs (9am-5pm). Call the administrator to book an appointment. Appointments are offered at the CAB although home and hospital visits can be arranged

LAMA Project

The project is a partnership between the CAB and the Housing Management team at Brighton & Hove City Council. The purpose of the project is to provide money advice to council tenants who are in rent arrears and with an emphasis on helping people maintain their tenancies and avoiding the need for legal action. The adviser sees clients by appointment in the main bureau office and at Priory House. For an appointment please phone 01273 733390 x24

FIF Project

The Financial Inclusion Fund project (FIF) is a partnership between the CAB and Housing Associations in Brighton and Hove:

The purpose of the project is to provide money advice to tenants in rent arrears with Housing Associations. The emphasis is on helping people maintain their tenancies and avoiding the need for legal action. The adviser generally sees clients by appointment in the main bureau office, at Hove Town Hall. The team administrator manages the appointment diary and she can be contacted on 733390 ext 29.

Advice we offer:

Money advice which covers the following areas: Prioritising debts, responding to court action and negotiating payment plans with creditors. We are advising more and more clients about the pros and cons of bankruptcy and other court-based dept remedies.
Benefit checks – we check clients’ entitlement to other welfare benefits and tax credits, and can assist people who have benefit overpayments.
